Aid4Mail cannot save updated settings in app settings, project settings or in a session

If you are trying to update the project folder or update a session name and receive errors such as “This path is inaccessible” or “Unsaved”, it might be that you need to update BitDefender’s Controlled Folder Access settings which may be blocking Aid4Mail from making changes to the “Documents” folder. Or are you unable to create tokens that Aid4Mail can read for access to cloud accounts like Gmail or Microsoft365, then it is probably because you have folder protection settings set up on your machine. You may also receive the error “Undefined Error #6” after starting a session if Aid4Mail does not have access to the Source and Target folders.

Here is how to update the folder access for Aid4Mail in Bitdefender:

1. Open Windows Security, go to “Virus & threat protection,” and under “Ransomware protection,” click “Manage ransomware protection.”
2. If “Controlled folder access” is turned on, click “Allow an app through Controlled folder access” and add Aid4Mail to the allowed list.

We recommend adding the following items from the Aid4Mail program folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Aid4Mail5):

  • a4m-32.exe
  • a4m-64.exe
  • Aid4Mail5.exe
  • OBridge.exe
  • PBridge.exe
  • Aid4Mail-Authenticator.exe
